Welcome and thank you for visiting the Cathy Watson for Council campaign site!
I’m running to remain on the Ferndale City Council because public service and helping others are two of my core values.
I served our Nation in the Coast Guard (active duty and reserves) and Navy (reserves), as well as at NASA. Now I serve my community as a Ferndale City Councilmember, student mentor, and volunteer.
I believe that working together as a community enables us to achieve more than we ever could as individuals. That’s why during my six years on City Council I’ve focused on listening to and working with residents, business owners, elected officials at all levels, and City staff to build a stronger, more prosperous Ferndale.
My more than two decades of leadership and management experience help me work well with others to find solutions to the many complex problems facing our community, while also championing individual projects like the new Ferndale Library, the planned Thornton/I-5 Connector, and improved emergency preparedness.
It is vitally important that we preserve our existing family-wage jobs, however, I also believe we must always be laboring to create new jobs. With the new Ferndale Made marketing campaign, I’m fighting to recruit entrepreneurs and existing manufacturing/agricultural businesses to the Ferndale area, bringing more family-wage jobs with them.
Finally, it’s important you know I never have, and never will, make a promise to you I cannot keep, and I will always tell you the truth. Those are my values and I live by them every day.
When your ballots arrive later this fall, I would be honored to receive your vote so I may continue working for you. I know that together we will make Ferndale a better place to work, raise a family, and thrive as a community.
